Change

Morning begins a new day
to try out new lies.

Fog and smoke engulf his lungs,
"You must believe me" he chokes.
"I never said it was easy"

He never really would stop trying
he never will stop lying

and as something once so real,
you'd swear it was never twice
a lifetime,

crumbled before me,
I listened to his pretty song

as he begged me to stay for awhile.

Until the moonlight can mimick
or fake you one smile,

You lie you cheat
you always repeat what was meant

for me.

only me.

Try as you might, you cannot persuade
your leaves to change their shade.

Everything once familiar has fallen to shadow and
it's hard for eyes to adjust
when all they knew before
was
sunshine.
